Join us for a night full of fun and exploration as you preview our The LEGO® Movie™ Days event activities, tour LEGOLAND® Discovery Center Westchester with your friends, family or colleagues and learn how to plan your next field trip! All teachers in attendance will also be entered for a chance to win a FREE field trip for up to 25 guests!

LEGO Workshop Demonstrations!

Experience first-hand why a field trip to the LEGOLAND Discovery Center is more than just play time for you students!

  • Spinning Tops – Recommended Grades: Pre K – 1st
    • In this exciting workshop students build LEGO spinning tops, collect data on whose design spins the longest, while also learning about the forces that affect their tops performance.
    • Standards Addressed:
      • NGSS: K-2-ETS1-1; K-2-ETSI-2; K-2-ETSI-3
      • CCSS: SL.CCR.1; SL.CCR.2
  • Seasons – Recommended Grades: Pre K – 1st
    • Help your early years’ students learn about the seasons the hands- on way. In this workshop students will build and share what they know about the current season; leading to a discussion on weather changes and important seasonal events and activities.
    • Standards Accessed:
      • CCSS: SL.1.1.B; SL.1.4.6
  • Spin The Gears – Recommended Grades: Grades 2nd & 3rd
    • Gears, gears, gears! In this workshop students will build a series of models and experiment with gears exploring the difference between drive vs. driven gears, clockwise vs. counter-clockwise, and discovering the concepts of effort and force.
    • Standards Addressed:
      • NGSS: K-2-ETS-1; K-2-ETSI-2
      • CCSS SL.CCR.1; SL.CCR.2
  • Merry-Go-Round – Recommended Grades 4th - 6th
    • A fun, hands-on way to get students excited about engineering, design, and mathematics. Students build a LEGO merry-go-round to explore gear ratios then experiment with gear trains to see which combination enables their ride to spin the fastest.

      • CCSS: SL.CCR.1; SL.CCR.2
  • What a Great Experience! – Recommended Grades 2nd-6th
    • Engaging students in reading and writing can be a challenge, but not when they build and tell their story using LEGO bricks! In this workshop, students will take inspiration from MINILAND and recount an experience they’ve had in their city, building their characters, setting, and plot using LEGO elements. They’ll also write about their experience using their model as a visual referencing tool and share their story with others.
